InSite AdBuyer™ FAQs
What are the real, no hype benefits of advertising using
the Lycos InSite AdBuyer?
With
Lycos InSite AdBuyer, search results are ranked based upon an
open bidding system, where each advertiser can bid a higher
click-through fee in order for their message to be closer to
the top of the search results. Advertisers are only charged
for the actual clicks, or traffic, which come to their site.
What
does it cost to open a bidding account?
The
account itself costs nothing, and there is no set-up fee. It
takes only a few minutes to fill out a form on our fully secure
server. You do have to put a minimum of $50 into your account
to activate it, which is non-refundable, and is used toward
your first batch of click-throughs based on keywords you select
during sign-up. Any amount deposited over $50 is fully refundable
should you choose to cancel your account at any time, for any
reason.
How
does the bid system work?
Additional
information is provided for advertisers in the Listing Management
Center, once you have an activated acccount. Essentially, you
choose search terms, and fill out an online form for each web
site and the search terms you've chosen, along with the bid
amount for that search term/phrase. Within 24 hours, your listing
will then appear (or re-appear at a different ranking) at the
level you've bid upon. If you bid a higher amount than the existing
listing at a certain position (such as #1), your site will now
hold that position.
What
terms can I choose?
You
can select any phrase or keyword that is relevant to your site/company
service or product offerings. You cannot bid on keywords or
phrases which are unrelated to your site (such as pet products
for a car parts company). There is no limit to the number of
search terms you can bid on.
How
do I control my budget?
Because
your bidding account is based on an account, much like a bank
account, you will not be billed once your account reaches zero.
This allows YOU to control your budget. Example: if you budget
$1,000 per month for keyword marketing, you could simply put
$1,000 in your account each month, and when it's used up, your
keywords drop from the paid rankings. Of course, it's always
a nice problem to have if your budget is used up early, because
you've received possibly thousands of new visitors to your site
directly from your Lycos InSite AdBuyer listing! With such success
you'd probably want to increase your Lycos InSite AdBuyer marketing
budget.
What
happens when two or more advertisers bid the same amount on
a hot search term?
Since
certain keywords are always "in play" due to their
popularity, our system has a very special feature to resolve
this issue. The first account (based on EST time stamp) to place
the bid for the amount will be listed first, with the second
(third, etc.) bidder listed after them.
