VERY IMPORTANT:
Never enter a maximum bid that you cannot afford. AutoBid™ will
always optimize your keyword bids to a penny above the next
highest competitor up to your max amount. At any point, a competitor
may have set their maximum bid at or near your bid.

Assume
the third-ranked advertiser, Advertiser
C, with a bid of $0.24 decides to use AutoBid™.
This advertiser indicates her maximum bid is $0.50. The bidding
structure within the network will switch to:

Advertiser
C has moved to the first-ranked position—by
one penny above Advertiser A.
Next
assume that Advertiser A
wants his first position back. To do this, he would use AutoBid™,
except he would need to input a maximum bid greater than the
current "Top Max Bid." (The value will be indicated
in "ad manager"). Advertiser
A then chooses AutoBid™, with a Max Bid of $0.70.
The following will occur:

Advertiser
A has a Max Bid of $0.70. Advertiser
C has a Max Bid of $0.50. Advertiser
A's bid moves to one penny higher than the next
most competitive bid, which in this case is Advertiser
C's Max Bid of $0.50. Advertiser
C now cannot achieve the Top Bid, so her next
best bid would put her into second position. Her bid actually
drops to $0.26 (from $0.30) so that she is only paying one penny
above her closest competitor. This process eliminates bid gaps
(described below).

Frequently
Asked Questions
Why
should I use AutoBid™?
AutoBid™
ensures that you keep the best possible position for your AdBuyer
keyword ads while saving you the trouble of adjusting your bids
throughout the day.
Does
it cost me anything to use AutoBid™?
No,
AutoBid™ is offered to all AdBuyer advertisers for free.
How
often does AutoBid™ update my bids?
AutoBid™
continuously updates bids. When new Manual or AutoBid™
updates come in from other advertisers for keywords on which
you have AutoBid™ enabled, the AutoBid™ system will
determine if it needs to update any of your bids and if so,
it will put you in the best possible position-but only a penny
over that of your next closest competitor.
What
is a Max Bid?
A
Max Bid is the highest amount you are willing to pay for a click-through,
although you may not actually pay this amount. That entirely
depends on the bidding behavior of other advertisers within
the AdBuyer Network. Never enter a maximum bid that you cannot
afford to pay. AutoBid™ will always optimize your keyword
bids to a penny over that of the next highest competitor, however
at any point in time a competitor may in fact have their own
maximum bid at or near yours.
Can
anyone see my Max Bid?
Only
the highest max bid for each keyword is shown, and that is only
shown to AdBuyer advertisers who are currently bidding on the
same keywords. If your AutoBid™ Max Bid happens to be
the highest on any particular keyword, your Max Bid price will
show, but not any other information.
What
happens if I have the same Max Bid as other advertisers on a
particular keyword?
When
two or more advertisers have the same Max Bid amount, the higher
position is given to the advertiser who first bid on that particular
keyword.
What
is a bid gap, and how does AutoBid™ eliminate it?
A
bid gap is the difference between one bid, and the next highest
bid. When you use AutoBid™, you will only pay one penny
over and above what the next closest competitor is paying for
a particular keyword-this automatically ensures you are never
overpaying for any keyword.
OK,
I did that and I am seeing that my bid is more than a penny
higher than the bid listed just below mine. Why?
OR
I
set one of my keywords to AutoBid™, with a Max Bid of
$1.50. The current price I am paying is $1.45, while the next
highest bid for that keyword is only $0.21. Why is that?
This
happens when there is another advertiser who is also using AutoBid™
to bid on that keyword. The advertiser may have his or her Max
Bid set a lower amount than your Max Bid for that particular
keyword. The AutoBid™ system calculates the minimum amount
you would need to bid on that keyword to keep your competition
from overtaking your position and sets your bid accordingly.
How
do I know when my bid price changes?
You
may see your current bid price on any keyword at any time by
logging into Account Manager and either running a "Keyword
Cost Report" or when editing your current keyword ads in
the "ad manager". Rest assured, you will never pay
more than your Max Bid amount that you have chosen for AutoBid™
and you will never pay more than a penny above that of your
next closest competitor.
Can
I remove AutoBid™ from any keyword?
Absolutely.
At any time, go back into "ad manager", Click "edit
current ads", and set any keywords with "AutoBid"
under the "Method" column back to "Manual"
using the drop down box. Then click on "update bids".
Do
all keyword bids have to be set to AutoBid™?
No,
your keyword bid strategy may include keywords that you bid
on both manually and using AutoBid™.
If
I use AutoBid™ for a particular keyword, will I still
be able to update my bid manually for that keyword?
Yes,
but by manually changing your bid for any particular keyword
you will be turning AutoBid™ for that keyword off. You
will have to go back in and reset your AutoBid™ parameters
at a later time if you wish to start AutoBid™ for that
keyword again.
If
I use AutoBid™, will I also be able to select the position
I want?
No.
AutoBid™ is designed to automatically place bids against
other advertisers in real-time, to achieve the best possible
position for your keyword at the best price, while never going
higher than the Max Bid amount you specified. You may select
the position you want at any time by putting a #X in the "Bid
Value" column, where X is the number your desired position.
This, however, would turn AutoBid™ off and be a one-time
change that you would need to monitor and adjust to ensure you
maintain that position.
